Im In college for Computer Science. I was going to do a job search to see what type of job i can get once i graduate...but i do not know what jobs there are with this degree.

what is the best place for computer science degree ?
i stay in jersey city, i want to learn computer science,i want to know that what is the best place where i can get computer science degree , i want to know all best colleges for computer science nearest my area ? i want to know one more thing, is that good idea if i complete this couse through some private institute ? can any one give me list of private institues where i can learn computer science ?

There are seven CAC/ABET-accredited schools offering Computer Science in New Jersey. None is "private" (for-profit). Montclair State University's degree in "Professional Computing" might be closest to what you want. New Jersey Institute of Technology's BA (yes, BA) degree in Computer Science is less theoretical and math-oriented than most.

What careers can you go into, BESIDES PROGRAMMING, with a Computer Science degree?
I'm pretty much stuck with having to graduate with a Computer Science degree. It's not that I'm not good at it, I know I can graduate, but I absolutely don't want to be a programmer. Is there anything else I can do in the IT related field?

Yes but you must understand that you also need to be certified or chances of getting any job in the field will be slim and none. It is best to start with your A+ and your Network+. These certifications are what gives you the hands on training employers are looking for. Go to QuickCert.com and you can get alot of information on careers and courses needed to get certified. A degree will just not get you anywhere and I doubt your school will tell you this. I work in IT and believe me I know. Anyways check out the website and there are plenty of jobs in the IT field that are better than programming!!

If i get a degree on computer science major, what should be my minor?
I plan to become a game developer in the future, so if i dont make it, what should i have as a minor that can help me later on? And what jobs can i get with a computer science degree?

Forget a minor, you don't need one. Just do well at your computer science degree and you'll never have trouble finding a job. Even if you don't make it as a game developer, there are tons of other job opportunities.

im majoring in computer science and getting a minor in business, but i plan on getting my MBA eventually so it all depends on what you want to do i was going to get a minor in cognitive science or psychology or the like because i think artificial intelligence is very interesting and will be very important in the future, but just do what seems right, talk to your advisor

computer science degree worth getting for web development
computer science degree worth getting for web development?
I've read on the internet about how outdated our computer science curriculum is here in America. With new web technologies coming out so fast, is it even wroth the cost to obtain an undergraduate degree in computer science to program a professional database backed website? Will the fundamentals and the math actually be helpful in what I want to do?

This website has general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'computer software engineers and computer programmers', 'computer scientists' (may need a doctorate to become a 'scientist') or such. How about also talking with a student advisor at the local community college or university.

I have started a Computer Science degree in ireland and not sure what ill end up doin web, video etc. You would be getting the degree for employers mostly and learning how everything on the backend works. As for all the new technologies on the web it would be up to you to pick the ones you want to learn about in your own time, tutorials etc Have to ask yourself if you even intend to work for someone else or for yourself? Would you need a degree if thats the case?

whew, pretty wide open question. so here's a wide open answer: whatever you're interested in, there are computers involved in making the work easier/quicker/cheaper. The traditional route in a CS degree is that you'd be interviewing with all kinds of companies during your final year in school, go on some job interviews, and get a couple offers. The funner way is to get with some other computer geeks at school and start writing something cool and see if there's any money to be made from it.

What do I need to be prepared for a computer science degree
What do I need to be prepared for a computer science degree?
I am currently 16, and going to be a junior in high schol. I want to get a degree in computer science in college. I am currently learning the programming language C#, but what else could I read up on/study to get myself better prepared for college (I know that it's a bit early, but i would like to get a headstart)?

I'm 17 and going into CS also. You should take advantage of the AP Computer Science AB course if it is offered at your school- this upcoming school year is the last year the course will be offered before it is merged with the A course. Speaking as someone who got a 5 on the AP Computer Science AB exam and as a fellow programmer- it's an *awesome* class if you have a good teacher. You should also consider studying common algoithms and efficiencies of different proccesses used in programming- maybe learn a new language as well. I've learned C++ and Java (and HTML, but that doesn't really count, lol) and plan to learn Perl (supposedly it's easy, you can follow a lesson to learn in 21 days). The point is you want to start learning the general concepts of programming but also the specific execution in varied programming languages. More emphasis on the first part though. Good luck!!
