Can I start a computer science degree at the graduate level

Can I start a computer science degree at the graduate level?
I have a degree in economics, but I'm considering switching careers and I'm thinking about computer science. I've never taken a formal comp sci class (but I've tinkered around with code). Will some programs allow me to start a degree without prereqs? If not, would the amount of prereqs I would have to take be pretty much equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science? (...meaning, I pretty much should go back and start again at the bachelor's degree level, right?)

No, they won't admit you without the prerequisites. They don't start over at the beginning - they start the masters coursework assuming you already took 4+ years of computer science courses. You'll need to take at least the basic prerequisite courses somewhere. You don't need another bachelors, but you do need about a year or more of basic courses.

Check with the graduate school regarding the pre-requisites you need and see if you can take them as a temporary non-degree graduate student. If you get A's in those classes, you are likely to be admitted to a master's or Ph.D. program.

Yeah, you should go back and take requisite courses for admission, which should take about 1.5-2 years or so (the last two years of undergrad are the main courses). There should be no reason they would accept you as is though, no one would be able to keep up just "starting" at the masters level. It just does not make sense. To be a master in something, you need a basis. This does not have to be a bachelors degree though, but should be coursework.
