How will a computer science degree benefit me

How will a computer science degree benefit me?
I am an environmental science major specializing in GIS/remote sensing. I have heard that learning computer science and programming makes you attractive to employers, but to what extent? What can I actually do for the average company with a computer science minor or major? I want to make lots of money, and eventually start a business once I have the right foundation.

It will benefit by giving you greater access to high paying jobs. There are plenty of programmers in the world but fewer with remote sensing and environmental science skills. That diversity of knowledge makes you even more attractive even if you don't actually do any work in those fields. A great number of these jobs start in the 70k range and can quickly advance (in a few years) to over 100k.

A Computer Science Degree will be your pass key into Corporate America. The education in itself is priceless.
