Feasible to go after a computer science degree?
I still have some time before I choose, but I was wondering - is it possible for me to go after a computer science degree in college if I have very little experience beforehand? My high school doesn't offer computer science courses, and I don't feel like I've learned much past the basics on my own, so would I be able to keep up in college?

Sure. That's what school if for!!! You might have to take some prerequisite classes but I doubt it. I'm going for Telecommunications and I don't think I'll fall behind. I've known some people that don't really seem too bright and they got their degrees! Go for the gold!!! Good luck.

Yes, it is feasible. If you are still in high school, do an internet search about computer camps. Sometimes, colleges and universities have some programs like that for high school students. Another thought would be to enroll in a computer class at a local community college. Of course, you could also check to see about doing an online computer course. I would recommend the introductory computer course or something similar through a community college or a 4-year college/university.

You can do anythign with a computer science degree. Having it makes you attractive to any company. You could go into any field... do not limit yourself to a job that is only focused on computers but stick with that degree.

No. computers are a dying industry. (I'm obviously being facetious)

some possibilities: DOD, coast guard, CIA, FBI, NRO, FAA, ATFE, Treasury, Corps of Engineers, dept of state even. there are many possibilities, altho with the economy doing so poorly many agencies are not hiring many people right out of school.

Is Memorial University of Newfoundland good for a BSc Computer Science Degree
Is Memorial University of Newfoundland good for a BSc Computer Science Degree?
I am residing in a Middle East country, studying Application Development at a Canadian College. I applied to Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) for a degree in Computer Science. But I am not sure if it is really worth studying there because I didn't get positive reviews for MUN. Please advice me if MUN degrees in Computing are worth within Canada??

Memorial is a completely valid university and your degree will be a worthwhile one. It is not one of the highly ranked universities and is not known for any strength in computer science. But it will be a valid degree and yes everyone in the country has heard of Memorial.

Memorial University is the largest university in Atlantic Canada, offering more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Memorial has four unique campuses, each with its own flavour. Canada does not offer a ranking system for its 60+ publicly funded universities. So, there are no highly ranked universities in Canada, they are all the same and will give the same quality of education. When selecting a university it is recommended that students research their options and choose a university which offers them the things they feel are most valuable in a university education. This may include factors such as the availability and focus of academic programs, location (rural or urban), student support services, community support and friendliness.
