Another name for computer science degree?
I'm looking to get my degree in computer science (which is programming right?) . But everywhere i look doesn't offer a degree in computer science, they have stuff like computer engineering, etc. My question is are there other degrees that make you a computer programmer?

game programming is a type of computer science degree. Comp engineering isnt the same as compsci so dont substitute for that. Anything thats computer science will either say "computer science" in it or "programming" in it.

Is a Computer Science and Information Technology Degree the same thing
Is a Computer Science and Information Technology Degree the same thing?
I know Information Technology is offered through online classes and Computer Science degrees are offered through a traditional college learning setting. I was wondering if there is a difference as far as curriculum.

Information Technolgy is generally the user end of the software.. Computer Technologies woudl be the programmingand hardware end.

Usually no. Computer Science involves a lot of programming (different languages such as C/C++, VB.NET, etc.), study of operating systems, compilers, networks, etc. Information Technology, or IT for short, usually involves more of the business aspect of technology. IT Managers manage Programmers (CS people).

Computer Science is usually more involved in designing/building computers and software. IT is running networks, security, infrastructure, etc.

the Curriculum changes often...but don't do notting on line, U wont learn what U need to no for a good job...take classes in a college setting, because U will have to network very hard to get a job later an.....and the CO will come to the campus to hire you... mostly if U choose and IT degree they will stick U with a tech call center job...so do it right the first time....

Getting a job with an associate degree in computer science when I already have a bachelor degree in marketing
Getting a job with an associate degree in computer science when I already have a bachelor degree in marketing?
I received a bachelor of Science degree in Marketing two years ago. After I graduate I realize this wasn't the right career for me, so I decided to pursue an associate of science degree in computer programming. I would like to know: 1) what kind of job can I get with just an Associate Degree in computer programming? I don't plan of getting a BS in computer science. 2) How will having a bachelor degree affect an employer’s perception of me?

It is often said that when you ask you find answers,well you are just so lucky to get this at your way . you can get that job on computer configuration and stuff like that,i am a living figure cos i work here as an engineer in the department of networking and i got my employement straight it was introduced to me by my aunt.. Mr Craig is the agent to a company group that is most reliable.( VENUS INTERNATIONAL VENTURES LIMITED) and its subsidiaries are principally engaged in the marketing and distribution of quality electrical appliances and hi-tech products, including the renowned 'GENERAL' air-conditioning unit, refrigerator, "FUJI Electric" air-conditioning unit, 'GALA' washing machine, air purifier, de-humidifier, range hood, 'LG' Plasma, LCD TV, Projection TV, Projectors and 'Goldline' gas built-in hob, i work there so if you wish to get a job there you can try one of there agent, Mr Craig (crag_marks@yahoo.com) and stop asking for money

Is a computer science degree respected in the finance field like math or physics?
What degree requires more analysis and crtical thinking math, computer science or physics?

they are abt the same in analysis and critical thinking, but a comp science degree is more respected in my view.

Well im doing a computer science degree and it involves math. Im sure it involves physics, but not so far, as im in year 2. My best guess would computer science because it has all of them. But in all honest it is just a wild guess. sorry then!

My answer is similar to the rest: All of them are respected and require similar critical thinking skills. However, Math and CS might be more useful in finance just for the emphasis on math and the use of computers in finance. In fact, being able to write your own code to create models would be an asset. I would suggest using two of them for a major/minor, as you'll need a minor if you major in math or physics; not sure about CS. Any of the three would be a good major (pick what you're most interested in), and supplement with a math or CS minor.
